Bio

Anchor 1

I am an award winning oil painter and portrait artist. I was born and raised in Nashville Tennessee. I credit my mother, who is a well-known local artist, with my love of art. From an early age she was my greatest influence and teacher. I studied Fine Art at The Savannah College of Art and Design and The University of Tennessee. Since then, I’ve enjoyed attending various artist workshops.

Realism has been misunderstood through the majority of the twentieth century as merely imitation. The truth is that when it is formed through a knowledgeable and practiced hand, Realist painting is a creative force. It is an expression that displays a highly nuanced vision. It inspires the viewer in ways that abstraction fails to accomplish. Many observe that my work reminds them of a photo, but my objective is to create depth in a painting with color, value and focus, where photography only delivers a flattened image. I have a very straight forward approach to my life and I believe that it shows in my paintings. I am highly skilled at discovering the optimal vision of a subject. My work celebrates and pays respect to the artists of the late 19th century.

My wife and I are now living in Gallatin Tennessee. I strive to make the world a better and more beautiful place with my painting. I am grateful to God for my desire and love of painting. I can take it with me wherever I wander and aspire to paint every day of my life.
